Editorial standards
The terms under which every film, episode and essay in this series is made.
Last updated: August 2026.
Independence
Editorial control of every film, episode and essay rests with the production team. Participating organisations do not have approval over the final cut.
We establish this at the first meeting, not the last. A film an organisation controls persuades no one; a documentary record it does not control carries real weight.
Accuracy
Every factual claim is sourced to documentary evidence or on-record testimony. Where the record is incomplete or contested, we say so on screen and in print rather than smoothing it over.
The full record
We tell these stories completely — the breakthroughs and the hard-won turnarounds alike. An institution’s difficult years are usually where its character was formed, and they are almost always the most compelling part of the story.
Right of reply
Where our reporting raises a matter that reflects on an organisation, that organisation is given a fair opportunity to respond before publication, and its response is fairly represented.
Participation and funding
Participation in the series is disclosed. Financial support from a participating organisation never buys editorial approval, favourable treatment, or the removal of material.
